Goals of Clinical Explorations:
1. Provide quality educational opportunities for current dental students on a once monthly basis
2. Enrich the student's understanding and appreciation for the scope of general dental practice
3. Provide a clinically relevant, evidence-based review of important dental topics, as chosen by the students, with focus on case-based Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, Technique & Biomaterials
4. Challenge student's clinical decision making and case selection by answering the following questions:
a. What are common mistakes made by general dentists and how can they be avoided?
b. When should the general dentist refer?
5. Recruit guest lecturers from internal (i.e. School of Dentistry) and external sources (i.e. non-commercial sources)Lecture Series Upcoming speakers:

"Adopt A Family" Donation Drive
We raised $237.00 presented as a CUB foods gift card to our Adopted Family and all the items on the WISH LIST were donated by our dental students!

December 6-15th, please stop by the 4th floor locker rooms during lunch and donate to our adopted family. Items in need include men's sized winter clothes, mitts, gloves and hats. Money donations are also appreciated and will be converted to gift certificates for groceries.

Elementary School Kid's Day
On December 3rd 2010, students from the D2 class gave presentations to over 10 first grade classroooms in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Each presentation aims to promote the importance of good oral hygiene and healthy habits in a fun and interactive classroom experience.
Kid's Day is held at least once a semester. If your elemntary school would like to participate in our program, feel free to contact us asda@umn.edu. We'd love to come to your school!
Food and Fund Drive Supporting Second Harvest Heartland

Second Harvest Hearland is the Upper Midwests's largest hunger-relief organization. Our community's working families, children and seniors are in need like never before.

Each $5 raised allows Second Harvest Heartland to deliver 18 meals to our hungry neighbors.

Restorative Night: Every Tuesday 6 to 9 pm
Extraction Night: Every Wednesday 6 to 9 pm
Volunteer at the Union Gospel Mission on University Ave providing free dental care. Students who have completed their oral surgery rotations may extract. Only 4th year dental students may operative on Restorative Night. Other students may assist or observe. Sign-ups are on the ASDA bulletin board in the 4th floor locker room.
